New Milford Hospital offers screening tests and treatments for digestive disorders and, in collaboration with Danbury Hospital, leading edge diagnosis and treatment of the full range of digestive diseases and conditions. We offer advanced technology and provide individualized treatment for every patient.

As a member of the Western Connecticut Health Network, New Milford Hospital’s physicians collaborate with Danbury Hospital’s gastroenterologists, offering the below services at Danbury Hospital:

Ablation therapy for Barrett’s Esophagus: Removal of precancerous cells in the esophagus. We offer three types of endoscopic (through a scope) ablation, including radiofrequency ablation, cryotherapy and electrocautery.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA): An endoscopic (through a scope), non-surgical technique to remove precancerous tissue in patients with Barrett’s esophagus.

Colon cancer screening (link)

Colonoscopy: A scope is used to examine the large intestine for potentially precancerous polyps, colon tumors or areas of inflammation or infection.

Cryotherapy: The use of ultra-cold nitrogen gas to destroy cancerous or precancerous tissue in the esophagus and stomach.

Endoscopy: Also called upper endoscopy, a scope is used to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach and upper small intestine.

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and fine-needle aspiration: A diagnostic test to obtain cells for testing for suspected lung, pancreas, esophagus, stomach and bile duct cancer and for the non-surgical evaluation of complex gallstone disease and pancreatitis.

Esophageal manometry and pH testing: Testing to evaluate how well your esophagus works using the Bravo capsule.

Lactose tolerance testing: A breathing test that diagnosis lactose intolerance, which is the inability to digest lactose, the primary sugar found in dairy products.

Wireless capsule endoscopy: A tiny wireless camera that sits inside a vitamin-sized capsule that you swallow so it can take pictures
