New Milford Hospital Establishes Plow to Plate® Signature Dish Initiative with Local Restaurants

NEW MILFORD, Connecticut - March 6, 2013 - Fifteen restaurants in New Milford Hospital's service area have joined forces with the hospital since the fall of 2012 by collaborating in the Plow to Plate Signature Dish initiative. This partnership allows the Hospital and restaurants in its service area to demonstrate their shared concern for community health.

In this collective effort towards community health, participating restaurants offer a unique, healthy dish or dishes (appetizer, entree, dessert) on the menu, which incorporates one or more components that meet New Milford Hospital's Plow to Plate nutrition guidelines.

    • whole grain, or
    • fruit

Deborah Weymouth, senior vice president and executive director of New Milford Hospital applauds participating restaurants and said, "By taking better care of ourselves and making healthy choices in food, everyone in the community is going to benefit in the long run." The Signature Dish initiative is the first phase of several to help educate the community about the role nutritional food plays in our health.

Participating restaurants display a framed Plow to Plate Signature Dish commitment certificate signed by both the restaurant owner and Executive Director of New Milford Hospital Deborah Weymouth signifying this collective commitment to community health.
