Western Connecticut Health Network Continues to Fight Proposed Budget
Western Connecticut Health Network continues to fight proposed budget cuts currently
being discussed by state legislators. After months of advocating to maintain access
to needed patient care and appropriate reimbursements to hospitals for care provided
to the uninsured and underinsured, the Appropriations Committee forwarded a budget
to the legislature that still contains $550 million in cuts to Connecticut hospitals.
Locally, this proposed budget translates into $30 million in cuts to Danbury Hospital
and New Milford Hospital.
It’s not too late for patients and residents to express your concern about the impact
of the Governor’s proposed healthcare budget cuts on our patients, community and
colleagues. Western Connecticut Health Network is encouraging area residents, employees,
business and community leaders to send a message to legislators to oppose the budget
cuts that will affect our patients, our programs and our community.
