Meet the President and Chief Executive Officer: Joseph P. Frolkis, MD, PhD
Joseph P. Frolkis, MD, PhD, was appointed as President and CEO of New Milford Hospital on February 1, 2007. Dr. Frolkis was previously the Hospital’s Vice President for Medical Affairs and Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program since 2005.
Prior to his arrival in Connecticut, Dr. Frolkis served at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and was Director of Clinical Operations in the Preventive Cardiology Program at The Cleveland Clinic. At University Hospitals, he directed the center for cardiovascular disease reduction and was chief of the division of general internal medicine, geriatrics and health care research. He was also an associate professor of medicine, epidemiology and biostatistics at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
After his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester, New York, Dr. Frolkis earned a medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, completed post-graduate training at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Ohio, and a master’s degree and PhD in clinical psychology from Boston University, Massachusetts.
Dr. Frolkis is the author of numerous articles in the medical literature, including published studies in the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Medicine, and the American Journal of Cardiology. His clinical trials in cardiovascular treatment have been supported by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Merck & Co., Parke-Davis, Novartis and Pfizer, among others.
