Sleep Medicine -- Help for snorers: NMH's Center for Sleep Medicine treats a growing number of clients for sleep disorders that commonly affect up to a third of the population and add an estimated $15.9 billion to U.S. health care bill. Sleep problems such as obstructive sleep apnea are associated with heart disease, high blood pressure and depression. Snoring-common in up to 50 percent of men and women who reach middle age-is often damaging to relationships and could be an indicator of obstructive sleep apnea.
