New Milford Youth Baseball/Softball will host “Goin’ Yard to Fight Cancer…One Run at a Time,” a fundraising event in honor of Mother’s Day to benefit New Milford Hospital’s Breast Care Program. Featuring hundreds of young players from the community, the event will be held on Saturday, May 8 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Garrick Farms Baseball Fields on Boardman Road.
Admission is free, and the Hospital will provide health and wellness information. Donations are encouraged at the event, and tickets will be sold for a drawing with numerous prizes! Come out and enjoy some games of baseball – 100% of the proceeds will help women in our community with screening, education and other activities to fight breast cancer.
The opening ceremony will be held at 9:45 am with the first pitch thrown by a cancer survivor. Union Savings Bank has agreed to donate $5 for every run scored throughout the day. A check presentation is scheduled with representatives from the bank and event organizers for after 4 pm. Thanks to the generosity of the Goldring Family Foundation, every team will take the field in pink uniforms to promote breast cancer awareness.
