Patients need not travel to a city for the latest cancer treatment. Advanced care and technology have come to the people at the New Milford Hospital Regional Cancer Center, and progress in cancer treatment has never been more exciting. There are more ways to treat cancer than ever before, and many of the new protocols are more effective than ever before. Some of the new treatments are already available in cancer centers, but the newest and most exciting are only available through clinical trials.

In the past, most trials have been conducted at large cancer centers, requiring patients to travel to New York City, Boston or New Haven to receive the latest drugs. Not any more. Patients now have direct access to many different clinical studies.

Case Review/Cancer Conference - Every week, the Regional Cancer Center conducts a multidisciplinary cancer conference. This conference is attended by the oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and surgeons. In addition, representatives from social work, nursing, nutrition, tumor registry, research, and members of the department of medicine present all new cancer cases, and everyone lends their expertise to the discussion. This provides patients with the opportunity to get many "second opinions" at the same time and helps ensure that patients have access to all of the comprehensive resources of our Regional Cancer Center.

New Milford Hospital's Regional Cancer Center now serves as a referral center where patients from more distant parts of Connecticut and eastern New York can receive innovative treatments locally. Patients or doctors interested in any of these trials should contact their oncologist or the Regional Cancer Center research coordinator at 860-210-7498.

Environment has such an emotional impact. Our light-filled, serene treatment spaces and comfortable lobby, complete with beautiful art, literature, puzzles and freshwater aquarium entertain patients and visitors with a strong attention to details.

Hours: The Regional Cancer Center is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.

Service area: Over 80 communities in Connecticut and eastern New York State.
