Lab/Pathology Services

Dr. Prashant Rodrigues

New Milford Hospital's comprehensive laboratory services are available to detect and monitor disease. We work around-the-clock, seven days a week testing, evaluating, and reporting results for your better health.

Our lab is equipped with the latest, computerized instrumentation for quick and accurate inpatient and outpatient testing, enabling our skilled team of medical technologists to effectively process over a half-million tests annually.

Outpatient testing is available:
Monday through Friday
7:00 A.M. -- 6:00 P.M.
Weekends
8:00 A.M. -- 2:00 P.M.

Please stop at patient registration before going to the laboratory. (Appointments requested, but not required.)

At New Milford Hospital, our lab services include:
  • Bacteriology
  • Blood Bank
The Blood Bank stores life-saving blood and testing is performed to determine blood types and the presence of antibodies. We also cross-match blood to ensure donor and patient compatibility.
  • Clinical Chemistry
Blood and body fluids are analyzed for components such as glucose or cholesterol to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of your condition and to monitor individualized care.
  • Cytology
Cytology includes evaluating pap smears or screening cells from body fluids for abnormalities and/or cancer.
  • Hematology
Includes blood cell evaluation and ability of blood to clot.
  • Histopathology
Specimens and tissues removed during surgery are examined to determine the absence or presence and nature of disease.
  • Laboratory Outreach
Our lab offers courier service to participating staff physicians and phlebotomy services throughout the region for homebound patients.
  • Autologous Blood Program for Safe Self-help.
Enables you to donate blood for your own use during surgery. Using your blood:
    • ensures compatibility
    • prevents reactions to foreign blood factors
    • eliminates risk of transfusion transmitted diseases such as hepatitis and AIDS
To make an appointment, call the autologous donation office at (860) 350-7284.
