Lithotripsy
Lithotripsy service is available for patients who have kidney stones. Lithotripsy is a procedure done to break up stones in the urinary tract using ultrasonic shock waves, so that the fragments can be easily passed from the body. Kidney stones are one of the most common disorders of the urinary tract. Current studies suggest kidney stones affect between 5.6 percent and 13 percent of the US population at some point during their lives. An estimated 1.3 million Americans seek medical help for kidney stones each year. The overall incidence of kidney stones has been increasing over the past 20 years, and potentially could be influenced by dietary changes (increased protein intake).
